Subscription troubleshooting

Subscription import failed: what to check

Expired URL, truncated link, unsupported format, or unreachable source. Each failure looks different; identify which one first.

Who it is for

People whose profile URL will not download, throws a format error, or imports with zero nodes.

Before troubleshooting

  • The URL comes from the provider you got it from
  • Do not post the full URL publicly
  • You can open the client log

Troubleshooting steps

  1. 1

Open the URL in a browser first. If it fails there, the problem is the network or the link, not the client.

  2. 2

Look at what comes back: a screen of YAML or Base64, or a login page, 404, or error message? The latter means the URL is dead or points elsewhere.

  3. 3

Check whether the URL was truncated. Copying through chat apps is the usual culprit.

  4. 4

After importing, confirm the new profile is selected, then refresh nodes once.

  5. 5

If it still fails, send the provider the log lines that do not include the URL.

Common issues

Import succeeds but the list is empty

A format mismatch or an expired subscription is most common. The log tells you whether parsing failed or the content was empty.

Do not share the full URL

Subscription URLs usually embed credentials. Redact before taking screenshots or asking for help.

Next step

Once the profile works, test the system proxy before considering TUN.
